Problem context:

LinkedIn is a Social media tool. The platform is primarily used for professional networking and career development, as it allows jobseekers to post their CVs and employers to post their job listings. The problem with LinkedIn, and with social media, is that social media no longer just means "websites and computer programs that allow people to communicate and share information, opinions, pictures, videos, etc. on the internet, especially social networking websites”, and now really involves dopamine-driven engagement loops, algorithmic prioritisation of attention over authenticity, performative posting behaviour, data extraction and ad-based revenue incentives, everything that "the de facto tool for professional networking" shouldn't be

LinkedIn presents itself as a gateway to professional growth but generally services as an attention-maximising social network, and much of this is enabled by the Interface systems used. LinkedIn, much like many other platforms use effective UI and engagement tools, but they aren't necessarily 'positive' for the consumer.

The project statement follows: "By removing some of these features, improving on the interface design using key principles and heuristics, LinkedIn can return to a functional and useful career tool rather than a feed-optimised social media environment."

In order to create an engaging and importantly effective user experience, first the existing interface must be analysed and critiqued:
