Project details:

The 2025 University of Liverpool Design Show is an annual event organised by the School of Engineering for all final year Design Projects (Details of the project can be found at https://jbaker.uk/projects/engg341-revolv-01 ). During the event, all students have the opportunity to display and demo their project to visitors, fellow peers, staff, and industry professionals. Each individual votes on their favourite project and the best project receives an award.

Winning the Professional Vote:

Hundreds of visitors attended the event across the day and it was great to chat with professionals and peers to explain my design process and the theory that gave the project meaning and value.

One Industry professional Pete Lomas, Co-Founder of Raspberry Pi, took an interest about to the project and spent time with me chatting about the shift in the design space away from functional, tactile design, to reductionist, minimal design, and how my product, and the meaning behind it, captured some of the essence of this declining design style.

The event provided much positive feedback, critical thinking, and clever suggestions for improvement, and comments over real-world commercialisation viability.

I was delighted to win the Professional vote for Best Design at the show, and to have been presented with the award by Pete Lomas.
