The Premise:

Everyday products can simply be ordinary items, but they can also become personal. Our experiences with these products evoke emotional responses. Understanding why these products hold significance is crucial in comprehending both the product and the user. Creating an Ad is a perfect way to highlight these ideas.

The Angle:

Identifying the product to work on was the initial step. User Experience, or UX, refers to how a user interacts with a product. Heuristics can be employed to pinpoint the product’s strengths. Having identified the product’s strengths, principal photography could begin, with the intention of drawing inspiration from both its real-world usage context and in a studio setting.

Groundwork: Storyboarding:

The purpose of the ad is to captivate the audience with the aspects that connect the user to the product. Technical details can be quickly forgotten and become easily obsolete in an advert designed to visually entice the viewer. Storyboarding plays a crucial role in this process, enabling the designer to craft a narrative, identify key frames, and visualise how all the elements work as a whole.

Actualise:

With the selected angle and groundwork completed (including the modelling process with CREO and 3DS Max), the production phases could begin. Pre-production involved meticulously detailing the models for animation using Corel Draw, and setting up the scenes and environment. Production tested my rendering abilities, matching the storyboard key frames and bringing them to life. At post-production, DaVinci Resolve was employed to stitch the frames together, colour grade, and incorporate sound effects.
